William
Worsham & Elizabeth William Worsham, Sr. b bef 1619, probably in England. The first record of William Worsham in Virginia was a patent for William & George Worsnam for 400 acres of land in Henrico Co., VA dated 15 Feb 1652. Two hundred acres was part of a patent which William Worsnam purchased in 1640 from Seth Ward and two hundred acres was for transporting four persons. George was probably William's brother. William married Elizabeth by 1646. Some researchers believed her maiden name was Littlebury because this name appears as a given name among some of her descendants. The Littlebury name could have come from the Eppes family since she and her second husband named a son, Littlebury Epes. William died before 1661 and George died before 6 Jun 1666. On that date John Wilson patented 100 acres of land which was on the North side of Appomattox along a fence which line parted said Wilson and the orphans of George & William Worsham. After William died his wife, Elizabeth married Col. Francis Eppes II of Henrico Co., VA about 1661. Elizabeth Worsham Eppes made a will with a codicil and both were recorded in Henrico Co., VA Oct 1678. In her will, she named her daughter, Elizabeth Kennon; her granddaughter, Mary Kennon; daughter, Mary Worsham; daughter, Mary Epes; son, John Worsham; son, Charles Worsham. In the codicil she states she is Elizabeth Epes, widow & relict of Col. Frances Epes of Henrico Co. She also mentions former husband Wm. Worsham, dec'd. This time she names her Epes children: William, Littleberry & Mary
Epes.

(d/o Charles & Mary Beville Worsham) Change paragraph to 1.5.5. Her name is
probably Frances Worsham b. 14 Sep 1700 Bermuda Hundred,
Henrico Co., VA (Ward Family Record owned by Daniel Ward which has the text: Richard Ward
son of Seth Ward Born October 29th 1692, Frances His wife born Sept 14th 1700) m. Richard Ward 18 Dec 1716 Henrico Co., VA. Richard b. 29 Oct 1692

67) Richard & Ann Ligon Family Bible which was printed in Edinburgh by Mark
and Charles Kerr, 1795 & was owned by Mrs. William Henry Graham, 1907. Mrs. Graham was
a descendant of Tahpanes Ward Webber a daughter of Richard Ward & Frances Worsham.
Mrs. Graham died in 1933 in New York City. The location of the Bible is unknown at this
time. Jack Webber has a transcript copy of the Bible record and posted the transcript on
Genforum on 28 Oct 2005. (Brenda Reed & Charles Ward-2005) It was interesting to note
that Tahpenes Ward m. Phillip Webber 14 Oct 1751 and they had a son Essex Webber b 19 May
1769 & a daughter Ann Bevill Webber born 25 October 1775. Ann Bevill Webber m. Richard
Ligon 10 Sep 1797.
The grandson's name of Essex Webber & the granddaughter's middle name of Bevill links
Frances Worsham to Charles Worsham & Mary Beville. In the law suit in Henrico Co. Sep
Court 1722 between Richard Havewell, lesee of John Worsham Plt. Vs Mary & Wm Worsham
Deft, it was brought out in the suit that when Charles, husband of Mary, died he left 3
sons & 2 daughters which were still living.
The transcript of the Bible entries are:

Because of this obvious link of Frances Worsham
& Richard Ward to the Charles & Mary Beville Worsham family, it is now believed
that their third son is Charles Worsham who was born about 1695 and is numbered 1.5.5. He
should be renumbered as 1.5.4. & Frances should be numbered 1.5.5.
Charles Worsham m.
Elizabeth and their family is covered beginning Page 297.
Originally we stated on Page 28 of our book that the third son could be either Charles or
Francis Worsham. It is doubtful that Charles & Mary Beville would name two children
Frances & Francis; therefore, it becomes evident that Francis was not a son of
Charles. It is more likely that Charles & Mary Beville would name a son Charles after
Charles, Sr. and not after Charles Worsham's stepfather Francis Epes.
Francis Worsham's family is covered on Page 563. His number is
1.5.5. His parents' names are still unknown at this time; therefore, his number should
begin with 1.
Children of Frances Worsham & Richard Ward:
1.5.5.1. Benjamin Ward
b 18 Sep 1717 m. 1st) Martha Branch who is identified in an old family record, a
transcript of which is on file at the E.G. Fisher Public Library in Athens, TN. (Charles Ward, 2008, a descendant of Richard Ward and Frances Worsham)
Benjamin m. 2nd) Mary Duke, d/o
James Duke & Mary Byrd of Westover, Charles City Co., VA.
1.5.5.2. Tahpenes Ward b 29 Mar 1729 m. Philip
Webber 14 Oct 1751. They lived in Cumberland Co., VA.
