Sarah Worsham.  Several researchers have claimed that Sarah Worsham is a d/o William Worsham & Elizabeth, however, no proof has been found.  Abraham Womack is said to have been married to Sarah Worsham and had a son Abraham Womack. Several Womack family researchers have asked if there was any documentation that Abraham m Sarah Worsham. To date, no one has supplied documentation to support this theory.
According to Wayne Calk, Stoutland, MO records, Abraham is in some records as Abram. Wayne's sources: Valentine Papers; He lived near N. Swift Creek; Fm Carl Womack. Wayne showed on a Family Group Record that Abraham Womack was m to Sarah Worsham dau of Capt. John Worsham, Jr.  who was b abt 1655 and Sarah Worsham b abt 1644.  (According to Dorothy Tuttle, this is not possible if her father was b abt 1655.  Sarah was not mentioned in the will of John Worsham nor was she mentioned in the 1678 will of Elizabeth Eppes who was the mother of John Worsham.  Elizabeth was 1st married to William Worsham & 2nd Francis Eppes.)
There was a book on the Womack family at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building in Salt Lake City by C. W. Womack.  Mr. Womack wrote that "Abraham's wife, Sarah was possibly Sarah Sumercales.  Mr. Womack did not have documentation & wrote that Abraham & Sarah had the following children:  1. Jane Womack b 1662 m Henry Pew, Jr. abt 1680 & d bef Nov 1732.  2.  Thomas Womack b abt 1664 m Mary & d abt 24 Mar 1732.  3.  Abraham Womack, Jr. b abt 1666 Bristol Parish, Henrico, VA m Jane & d bef Apr 1744.  4.  Martha Womack b abt 1675 Henrico Co., VA m John Mosby 22 Nov 1708 & d 1733.  It could be that Martha m 1) James Hambleton."
(Roger G. Womack wrote in Womack Genealogical Network, 1998  http://www.womacknet.com/message/messagearchive.html that Sarah Sumercales did not come to America until 1691; therefore, she could not have been the mother of Abraham's children)  WGN can be found at http://www.womacknet.com/
Lynn Collis had a post on Womack GenForum dated 17 Aug 2000 regarding the possibility that William Womack was the father of Abraham, William Jr., Richard John, Thomas & Mary. Lynn stated that Abe Womack & Wm Clarke had a difference in 1674 about the est of Wm Womack dec'd.  It was ordered that the sd Abraham Womack, bro to sd Wm Womack have 2/3 of estate both real & Personal, and the wid have the other part.  8 Apr 1674.  On 1 Oct 1677 An acct of cattle bel to the orphans of William Womack dec'd presented by Timothy Allen Sr. Mary Womack & Thomas Womack & again on 1 Aug 1678 Acct of cattle of Mary & Thomas Womack by Timothy Allen. Lynn Collis stated, "This seems to imply that William Jr. died without issue.  His brother is his heir, not any children.  For this reason I do believe that the William, whose orphans, Thomas and Mary were left in the guardianship of Timothy Allen, was the possible father of them all.  As for the name of his wife, or wives, I have no idea.  Timothy Allen, guardian to his youngest children, may have been their grandfather, or he may have been a second husband to William's widow."
The first record that Dorothy Tuttle has recorded linking Abraham Womack to the Worsham family was when John Worsham was a member of the Grand Jury for the years 1677 & 1678 and made a report on 14 Aug 1678 that Abraham Womack was drunk by his own confession. (Henrico Co., VA Colonial Record Bk 1, Wills & Deeds 1677-1682, p 70)
In 1679 Abraham Womack is on the Henrico Co. Tithables:  Ann McDonald posted a message to WGN Message Page (quiltdog@yahoo.com) stating she saw an abstract of the tithables list from Henrico Records Nov. 1677-Dec 1692, p 79 June court 1679 lists in Bermuda Hundred "at Mrs. Isham's 6; Turkey Island Capt. William Randolph 5; Curles; Robert Woodson 5, John Woodson Sr 3, John Woodson Jr 2; Mr. John Pleasants 13; Abraham Womacks 2.
In 1689 Abraham Womack pet the court declaring that being possesed of a parcell of land he has been stopped from ascertaining the bounds of sd land by William Clarke & Edward Stratton who bound upon him.  The sd William Clarke pet at the same time in the presence of sd Stratton, saying that he is uncertain of his right till the sd Womack's land which is unbounded be laid out which the sd Womack refuses to do.  It is ordered that Womack and Clarke, at their own expense, have the land surveyed before the next court. 1 Oct.
1689-In the difference bet William Clarke & Abraham Womack concerning bounds of their land, the sd Womack says that Mr. Minge has all his papers and requests a cont. 2 Dec.
1689/90-The pets of William Clarke & Abraham Womack concerning the bounds of their lands are referred to next court; Womack has already surveyed his land & Clarke is to survey his next week, 1 Feb. 1690-Agree:  William Clark, Abraham Womack, about bounds of their lands, adj Gilbert Elam & Thomas Shipy, wit: William Randolph & Littleberry Epoes, 30 May-1 Aug.

Wayne Calk's Family Group Record sent to Dorothy Tuttle in 1988 for John Worsham b 1625 Henrico Co., VA? m abt 1650 & d by 1677 Lulenberg Co., VA? m Elizabeth who d 1678 Henrico Co., VA who was m 2nd to ?? Epes.  Two children were listed John Jr., Capt born abt 1655 & daughter Mary Worsham b abt 1660 who m Richard Ligon (Source: Early Settlers of AL, p 484; Valentine Papers p 1772, 1802 & 1768; John Worsham overseer, Cornwall Parish, Lulenberg Co., VA in 1764)  Wayne must have a typo of the spelling of Lulenberg as it was Lunenburg County and the 1764 date could not have been for Capt. John as he died by 1677 according to Wayne)
Dorothy Tuttle wrote a letter to Wayne in 1988 stating that John Worsham died in 1729 and named children: John Worsham, William Worsham, son Daniel Worsham's widow Judith, Daughters Eliza Marshall, Frances Rowlit, Mary Robertson, Martha Ward, Ann Osborn, etc.  He did not name a daughter Sarah.  John Worsham, Jr. was the son of William & Elizabeth Worsham.  Elizabeth m 2nd) Francis Eppes and she left a will in 1678 and she did not name a daughter Sarah.
Some Womack researchers believe her last name is Worsham and daughter of William & Elizabeth Worsham.  If Sarah Worsham was still alive when Elizabeth Epes made her will, then she would have been listed.  If she were deceased then at least Sarah's children would have been and they were not.
Some Womack researchers state he was m to Sarah Sumerscales and she was mother to Abraham's children. Sarah Sumerscales/Sumercales/Somerseals came over on a land patent dated 20 Oct 1691 with 16 other individuals in which Abraham received 879 acres of land. (Patent Book 8, Page 172) In that listing her name is spelled Sarah Somerseals. In the United States Passenger List 1538-1940, is spelled Sarah Somerseal. (http://www.womacknet.com/message/archive/11.1998.html on the WGN site-Womack Genealogical Network (http://www.womacknet.com/ was written by Roger Womack 19 Nov 1998)
So it looks like Sarah Sumerscales wasn't even in America at the time the children of Abraham were born.  It is pretty much assumed that Sarah Sumerscales was a second wife of Abraham Womack (Jamie Ayres 10/27/1999)
Ancestral File part of FamilySearch has that Sarah Worsham's father is John William Worsham b c1625 Jordan Parish, VA d bef 1661 Henrico Co., VA m c 1643 Elizabeth Littleberry b c1623 of England, Orange Co., VA d c 1678 Bristol Parish, Henrico Co, VA.  (Comment by Dorothy Tuttle.  Records in Henrico Co. show his name as only William.  Believe the John came from his son John who m Phebe.  The Littleberry name has not been verified and probably came from the fact that Elizabeth & Francis Eppes named a son Littleberry)
Correspondence:  Jamie Ayres 10/27/1999 sent a copy of the Will of Abraham Womack who died after Nov 1732 & bef Oct 1733.  He did not name a wife, Sarah.
Correspondence:  Jane Drake Brody JBrody845@aol.com 3/9/2000 "My 9G grandmother may have been Sarah Worsham who married Abraham Womack.  I have the following from another genealogist:  Joyce Wommack dated 1 Sep 1997.  I have just received information that the name of the first wife of Abraham Womack (son of immigrant) and mother of his children was Sarah Worsham b. ca 1644, dau of John William Worsham b. ca 1625 Charles City, Jordan Parish, VA, d bef 1661 in Henrico Co., VA and Elizabeth Littleberry, b 1623 d 23 Sep 1678, Henrico Co., VA.  It has been accepted by most researchers that he (may) have married his headright, Sarah Sumerseals/Sumerscales, sometime between 1688-1681, which would have been too late for her to have been the mother of his children and that he must have married before her.  Has anyone ever heard of Sarah Worsham as his first wife?)"
Worsham GenForum dated 8 Jan 1999 message posted by Kristi Simmon 30 Dec 1998 "Trying to verify into inherited from my husbands grandmother that shows a Sarah Worsham born in 1644 to William & Elizabeth Littleberry Worsham.  It appears that she married a Womack (Abraham Sr?).  Does anyone else show a Sarah connected to William and Elizabeth."  Follow up by Jamie Ayres 8 Jan 1999 (badnewsayres@yahoo.com):  "Sarah b c 1644 Henrico Co., VA d Bristol Parish Co, VA; m c 1661 Bristol Parish to Abraham Womack b 1645 Henrico Co., VA; d. 1735 Bristol Parish Parish; son of William Womack and Mary Jane Evans Allen (a widow when she married William)  Children of Sarah Worsham & Abraham Womack:  i. Martha b c 1675 Henrico m. (1) James Hambleton; (2) John Mosby 22 Nov 1708 St. Johns Church, Henrico Co, VA"
Follow up to Jamie Ayres post of 8 Jan 1999 dated 24 Feb 1999 "Believe there is an error in the above info.  My records show Hudson married Abraham Womack III, not Jr. Only have Jane...married Abraham Womack"
Follow up to James Ayes on 8 Jan 1999 dated 14 Jan 1999: "check out http://www.womacknet.com/features/royrogers.html.  This site shows that Sarah Worsham married Abraham Womack and, following down the Womack line, is related to the late Leonard "Roy Rogers" Frank Slye.

The courts divided the land of William Womack and gave l/3 to the widow (her dower) and 2/3 to Abraham Womack the brother.  At the time, this land was undivided.  Over the years they must have argued as to where the l/3 stopped and the 2/3's began, thus they took the matter to court (Lynn Collis post to Womack GenForum 17 Aug 2000)

In April of 1698, William Faber age 27 years of age gave a deposition stating that in the year 1692 he was employed by Mr. John Worsham, Jr. Thomas Stratton, and Mr. Abram Womack to clear one acre of land on a class called Coldwater Run in Henrico Co., being land taken up by Mr. John Worsham, Jr. Thomas Stratton, and Mr. Abram Womack.  (Henrico Co., VA Wills & Deeds 1697-1704, p 77)  This appears to be  the land described in the patent of Oct 1691.
On 15 Aug 1699 Mr. John Worsham & Mr. Abraham Womack, Sr. deeded to Edward Stratton, son of Edward Stratton, dec'd all of their right in l/3 of 879 acres.  The land located on the north side of Swift Creek, called "Coldwater Run" for which they were granted a patent on 20 Oct 1691. (Henrico Co., VA Deeds Bk 5, p 147) In the notes of Dorothy Tuttle: Edward Straton, Sr. died in Sep 1698 and son Edward Stratton, Jr. inherited all his father's land.  Because there was no relinquishment of dower with this deed for the wives of John Worsham and Abraham Womack, it would indicate that both wives were deceased)
When John Worsham purchased 200 acres of land on soth side James River from John Dawson, Abraham Womack was a witness.  (Henrico Co. Wills 1697-1704, p 328)
The Inventory of Thomas Ligon was appraised 7 May 1705 by Abra. Womack, Rob. Hancock, Arth. Mosely and William Womack.  (Neglected to cite a source)
Deed #67 pg 134 Abraham Womack, Jr., for love and affection, to my son, Thomas Womack, all my land on Coldwater Run and Swift Creek, 400 acres.  Witnesses: William Kennon, Arthur Mosely. Signed: Abraham Womack Recorded 1 Feb 17089...Film #1697555 Henrico Co., Virginia Deed (Submitted to WGN Message Page by Bob Erwin thatbebob@aol.com 25 Sep 2000)  Bob Erwin also wrote:  "Now Thomas Womack who married Mary Farley is always identified as the son of Abraham, Sr. who left his will in 1733.  It makes much more sense to me, considering the ages of Thomas's children, that he would have been born ca 1687, and coming of age when this deed was executed.  According to the age of her father, John Farley, Jr., Mary Farley could not have been born before 1690.  Also that the Abraham of the 1733 will was actually Jr."
On 1 Apr 1708 Edward Stratton, Jr. sold 193 acres back to Worsham and Womack and refers back to the patent of 20 Oct 1691.  (Henrico Co., VA Wills & Deeds 1697-1704 pp 351-352)

GenForum post by Jamie Ayres dated 8 Jan 1999 reply to post of Kristi Simmons 30 Dec 1998 stated Abraham Womack b 1645 Henrico Co., VA d 1735 Bristol Parish son of William Womack and Mary Jane Evans Allen (a widow when she married William)
